At Print & Mail Runner, we take sustainability very seriously and want to do all we can to protect and look after our planet, whilst continuing to provide the best quality and service in all that we do. It is important to us that by choosing us as your print supplier you feel assured that we are doing all we can to make sure all our production operations are environmentally friendly.
Here are some of the sustainable and environmentally choices we have made…
Certified ISO 14001 Standards
We are proud to able to state that all our print partners are ISO 14001 certified businesses. This means they operate according to a strict set of internationally recognised standards for environmentally business practice. The ISO 14001 covers all sorts of business activity, from air pollution to soil contamination, so you can be sure that we’re doing everything in our power to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
Being ISO certified businesses also means that they get regularly audited to make sure that they and we are at the forefront of sustainability and will continue to be economically friendly into the future.
The FSC™ Supply Chain
You can rest assured that all the stock and materials that we use are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC). This means that you can trace all our paper and cardboard production back to sustainably manged forests. The FSC are an international NGO dedicated to conserving the world’s forest resources and protecting the rights of workers, communities and indigenous peoples connected to forests and woodlands around the world.
You’ll see the FSC logo on all of our packaging and, if you like we can add the FSC logo to your artwork too. Please just let us know when you are placing an order and we will get it sorted 😊

Waste Management
It is probably of no surprise to you that for a printing company the main forms of wate are paper and cardboard. Thankfully we are able to recycle all of this through the factory extraction system. Excess paper or cardboard is pulled directly from the machines via a suction extractor and carried into recycling tips ready for collection and recycling.
We also ensure that all the litho printing plates, any plastic packaging and the electronic waste is recycled through a WEEE certified waste disposal partner.
At present we currently recycle 97% of our material waste and 82% of the chemical waste, but we are constantly working to improve this.
Reducing Overproduction
We have realised that by giving ‘standardised’ quantity ordering options we are sometimes forcing clients to order more stock than they actually need. This over production can mean either a lot of waste for us or our customers. So, wherever possible we now offer the option of ordering bespoke quantities to match our clients ongoing needs.
On applicable product ranges, please just let us know the quantity you require, and we will print and deliver the exact amount – saving you money as well as minimising waste.
Energy Usage
Wherever possible we use production partners whose premises are powered on 100% renewable energy.
We closely monitor our and our partners energy usage and have put several measures in place to meet our energy reduction targets. These include…
- Ensuring all machinery and equipment is as energy efficient as possible
- Making use of automatic power-down features on all machinery
- Utilizing carbon offset programmes
- Utilizing renewable energy sources where possible
War on Waste
Throughout our company and with the support of our partners, we run a constant War on Waste campaign. Our team members are always on the lookout for new opportunities to reduce waste, in all areas of our work. So far, this scheme has led to…
- A 52.77% reduction in waste across our litho stream. (Including sheets, inks, power for the machines, and chemical usage)
- A 45% reduction in waste across our digital stream. (Including sheets, inks, power for the machines, and chemical usage)
- Installing timers on several electrical outputs so that they turn off when not in use.
- A 20% reduction in power usage for UV drying processes.
- Virtualising out internal server infrastructure in order to use less power.
- Programming our air conditioning to turn off overnight when nobody is in the office.
- Reducing overall waste by a third.

We know that the demand for sustainable print is bigger than ever, which is why we’ve developed a product range that focusses on quality print without impacting the planet.

When ordering from the recycled range our clients can be assured that they are getting print materials that are good for their business and the environment.
Our recycled stock is simply paper that has been made using 100% recycled paper materials, putting to use old and used paper and cutting back on the manufacturing of brand-new paper. Recycled stocks are great for your eco-conscious customers who want to do their bit for the environment!
Our recycled stocks are made using 100% recycled paper and you’ll be glad to know that just like our other stocks, our recycled product range is FSC™ (Forest Stewardship Council™) certified. Not only does this identify that the stocks have been made from recycled materials but also certifies that it has been made with, or contains, forest-based materials from FSC certified forests or reclaimed sources.
